Considerations from a Melbourne based Event Manager in appropriately selecting eco friendly food and beverage packaging for events.

For anyone outside of the Industry, titles can be confusing as a way to understand levels of responsibility when deciding what level of organisation your event will require. There is a major difference in skillset between an Event Producer, and Event Manager.

Bright colour, framing a myriad of loved ones and happy memories. I get it. Balloons have been the go-to decoration for parties for generations, and for the last few years, balloons tied together to create arches or ‘link-a-loon’ garlands. The trouble is as we know, balloons are made of rubber, nylon or latex which when discarded, do not break down in the environment, and worse still are often consumed pr caught around wildlife.

Its important to take the time to really consider your selection based not just on what sounds yummy to you, but what is the item served on and how easy is it to eat during networking or while wearing a bright red lippy? How quickly can it be served? How will it hold up with unexpected delays in your proceedings? Will guests need two hands to eat it (and put their glass down)?
